The present roofing industry
In the event that you actually need to achieve the best from the very beginning, at that point roofing could be the vocation for you.
Think powerful statures, carpentry, lead work, covering, long days, introduction to the components – and you’ll be on the correct lines to understanding the complexities of these vocations.
Regardless of whether it’s your home, an office, a shop, a jail, a healing center or a grocery store, a working without a rooftop is successfully inconsequential. In like manner, a harmed rooftop renders its motivation totally repetitive. Roofers are exceptionally talented tradesmen who give a key support of guarantee home security and shield individuals from the components.
How is a vocation in roofing?
Roofing vocations depend on individuals with tender loving care, the capacity to center in an assortment of climate conditions, and the valor to work in possibly risky situations
In spite of the fact that the wages for roofers are not the same as city financiers, they will give you a decent way of life. There is additionally the likelihood that you will procure past the national normal wage for roofers, which, as indicated by the Office for National Statistics, is amongst £16,000 and £24,000 per annum. Following quite a while of experience, numerous roofers begin their own roofing organisations, which enable them to profit.
Roofers are required to take in various aptitudes. These range from wellbeing and security (i.e. checking the rooftop timbers are sound and ready to manage the heaviness of the rooftop), to gifted joinery and carpentry.
Would i be able to work in one region of roofing?
Roofing can be separated into a few expert regions, for example, covering or leadwork (the sort of roofing you regularly find on more seasoned structures, for example, temples). Covering requires numerous years to consummate and is a standout amongst the most expert types of roofing.
On the off chance that you do represent considerable authority in a particular zone of roofing like these, you may find that your profession will include broad voyaging, as ventures can be situated the nation over, and the general population that have such specialty aptitudes can be rare.
Working at statures can be perilous. In spite of the way that roofers utilise the most recent wellbeing gear, the highest point of structures are still possibly unsafe conditions, particularly when you are in charge of different representatives or collaborators.
Roofing can be a rewarding career. It is also not really affected by swings in the economy like some trades. After all if a roof is leaking then it needs to be fixed, low downturn economy or not!
I decided to write this blog to not only inspire you, but to make you realise that anything is possible. If you want to be something in life, with dedication and determination, you can get there… but it can take time. The story I am going to tell you about is of a successful roofer from Plymouth who created a successful business (Plymouth Roofers).
Starting from the beginning, there was a student here at Sussex university who never believed in himself. When asked to do assignments or work, he would never give his best as he never thought his best would be good enough anyway. As a teacher, I tried to make him realise that giving his best would be more than good enough, but he didn’t listen.
As the months went by, it became that time of year where he had to make a choice. He either had to carry on how he was, or really dedicate his life to his work and pass his exams. After a few words of wisdom, I seemed to break him and he promised me he would really knuckle down on his work for the coming months.
The moral of this story is, just because you haven’t done enough already, doesn’t mean you can’t change it and make everything better. My student worked so hard for the next few months and he passed his exams. He is now a successful roofer and has all the experience he needs. Whatever it is you want in life, just do it! He didn’t believe in himself but as soon as he changed his thoughts, his world changed too.
I thought I would set up a blog page on all of the things you need to know about choosing the right career path. I decided to do this as when I left school, I really struggled in terms of ‘what to do now!’ and then I started to panick. I lived next to a kitchen showroom so I thought I could always start working there and make my way up to manager.
But, because I panicked, I got further and further away from any education plans and I started to lose interest in finding something to do. I became more interested in what I was wearing and what I was going to do tonight! So, I definitely needed to change something!
Throughout school, I was one of those people who never had any idea what I wanted to do! I wasn’t one of those people who knew from day one or one of those people who had a passion for something that I loved and wanted to do for the rest of my life. All I kept thinking was… ‘one day, something will come my way and I will do it forever’… but that day never came!
After having left school for a whole year (I called it my well deserved break) I realised that the ‘bank of dad’ wouldn’t always be acceptable to use and I had to get my own money! After all of my friends had already done another year of education or work, I was never able to do the things they did as I had no money of my own!
I started to search for jobs going locally to me and I ended up getting a job in my favourite local pub just down the road from me. I absolutely loved it in their but I knew it wasn’t going to give me the life I desperately wanted!
What I was trying to explain to you in this blog is that, things don’t always go to plan right away, but please don’t make the mistake I did and waste a whole year on worrying about what you’re going to wear to the next party! Don’t just work in the local pub! Aim for the highest and make sure you achieve it, ten fold!
Look out for my future blogs on all types of opportunities and wisdom! Thanks for reading 🙂
So, we are fast approaching that time of year where all of the students leaving school are starting to think about what they want to do in life. You may be heading off to university, college, staying on at school or maybe heading off to a new job or apprenticeship. Whatever stage you’re at, you must know by now that education is so important!
Why does education matter so much?
The grades you may have got or are aiming towards can be changed by experience and persistence but the knowledge and the training of the mind that education gives you, that is what will set you up for life!
Do you know what you want to do yet?
Some students will already know what they want to do but some will be concerned of whether or not they are making the right choice. Some students don’t even know what they want to do yet, and with the time to choose fast approaching, they’re beginning to panic!
Whatever you want to do, as long as you give it your all, you can achieve anything. If you’re unsure of what to do, why not ask for help and guidance? Where I lived in Plymouth, there was a limited amount of people that i could really ask, everyone already knew what they were doing and no one really had the time to help me.
But I went and asked around local shops and got their advice on what they did. I found that many people just followed their heart instead of their head and did something that they loved! So go out there and find what it is that you love and then, it will all start to fall into place.
Thanks for reading 🙂
In this blog, i thought i would tell you a little bit about my sister and her journey through the education process. My sister went to university in Sussex and as we lived in Plymouth, she lived in a student flat and got a taxi home at the weekend as she didn’t drive at the time. Travelling back and forth could be challenging but she decided to set up a continual contract with Taxis Plymouth which cut costs down a lot and she was always picked up and dropped off on time and safely.
The reason I’m sharing that information with you is because, when choosing a university, you may be thinking about being away from home and it can often put people off. Like my sister, a lot of people are homely and get homesick when away from their home and family but, there is always a solution.
If you were thinking of doing the same as my sister did and taking that route of going to the university in Sussex, then you can always set up a contract with leading taxi companies and go home on the weekends. Or, if you live close enough, set up a way of going home every evening, that way, you won’t have to stay in accommodation and you can have the best of both worlds.
Starting somewhere new can be very daunting, especially if you don’t know anybody there and you are having to make friends all over again. Instead of feeling scared about the unknown, be excited! Change your thoughts to positive ones and look forward to the new beginning you may be about to have.
When my sister first went to the university in Sussex, she was so nervous and kept saying what most people will be saying now… ‘what if nobody likes me?’ but… does it really matter? You are going to university to change your life and to become something that you want to be. So if you make friends with everybody there or if you make friends with just one person, just remember, you are changing your life for the better.
Believe it or not, fireplaces are a huge part of your home. When you walk into a room, it is important to have something that holds it all together. A focal point in a room is what draws people in and what the furniture surrounds. Best Electric Fireplaces sell a wide range of electric fires, they are the perfect thing to have as a focal point as a fireplace is what makes your house, more like a home.
There are 3 main things that an electric fireplace can do for your home. These things are all equally as important, especially if you treasure your home. Inviting people round will become so much easier and you will find that your home will be more inviting and appealing to yourself and others.
Cosy nights in
There is no better way to get comfy than lying next to a fireplace, watching it’s flames glow and gently flicker. An electric fire offers a relaxing ambience, without breathing in the harsh smoke and fumes a real fireplace gives off. Electric fireplaces can bring warmth to your home and make it more luxurious to live in.
The best thing about electric fireplaces is, there are so many different colours and designs to choose from. Most of the time, what design you have in mind, you will more than likely find it somewhere online or in a store. Electric fireplaces can bring your home to life by creating a focal point for your room and making your home decor stand out.
The installation process of an electric fireplace is to literally just plug it in. An electric fireplace is so easy to maintain as you don’t need to buy any materials to get the fire going every night as the flames are real life LED lights. They make it so easy to have a cosy and warm living room without having to lift a finger… apart from pressing a button to switch it on.

Having a passion for something can be rare, especially when it comes to a job. Most people nowadays fall into a job and stick with it being a nine to five, five days a week thing. You will also find that more than most people don’t even enjoy there job and find it more of a chore rather than an exciting role. My dad worked for an independant financial advisors for most of his life and found it difficult to get up every morning.
Even though he loved his job and loved everything that it entailed, he was travelling 2 hours there and 2 hours to get home, and that was without traffic! He found that he was dragging himself to work, barely making it through the day and then driving home half asleep and missing dinner most nights. He knew deep down that something had to be done or he would start to spiral into depression.
What should you do next?
One morning he woke up and something had changed… his mindset. Once you change your mind, everything begins to fall into place. He decided he was going to start his own independant financial advisors company and he was going to make it work!
If you are lucky enough to find an occupation that you love, but you want more from it, follow your dream! You are more than capable of setting up your own business! Why not you? My dad set up his own business and he has never been so happy! He just took the plunge and fortunately, it worked.
Sometimes, it doesn’t always go to plan, but if you know what you want and you are persistent in getting that, you will always succeed in the end, just never give up.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go solo? Owning your own business has many, many perks to it, but can also have its downfalls too. I thought i would write this blog to give you an idea about owning your own business so that you can decide whether or not it could be for you.
I know a friend of a friend that set up their own electric fireplaces company and it was the best thing they ever did. But i also know someone who set up a business doing plumbing in Plymouth that is still trying to get their business off the ground, 3 years later.
Here are some of the pros to working your own business:
- Money – Owning your own business gives you the advantage and allows you to work harder and earn more money rather than that extra cash going to your boss.
- Power – Being your own boss gives you the power of make all of the crucial decisions that will give you your own success.
- Helping the locals – You have the power to give local people a job and to help out the economy.
- You have security – No one can decide to fire you one day, you are secure.
Along with the pros, you also have some cons too, so be careful when decided:
- Investments – When starting your own business, you may have to fork out and invest in whatever it is you want to endeavour on.
- Time – You may have to dedicate the time and effort and may miss out on important things but you must remember, it’ll be worth it in the end.
- Uncertain money – Your income may be unsteady, and there may be times that you have none at all but just don’t give up.
- Learning about yourself – You may learn things about yourself that you never knew. You may need to embark on new adventures that put you out of your comfort zone.
Whether you decide its for you or not, always follow what you believe is the right choice for you, don’t ever let anyone else influence you.
Looking for a job can be stressful! Not only do you have to know what you want to do, but you must find a company to take you on as well. Once you have finished your education, whether that be school, college, an apprenticeship or university, you must then decided where you want to do. Whether you want to become a tree surgeon and work outside, or you want to work inside and be in more of an office environment.
So, here are some ideas as to what jobs are out there:
- Gardener – Maybe you are more of an outdoors kind of person and you have a passion for making residential and commercial properties looking beautiful from the outside. Once you have your skills and qualifications to be a professional gardener, you can then apply for a gardening business or set up your own gardening business in Plymouth.
Knowing all about what flowers go best with others and how to get rid of unwanted weeds in a garden, it all comes with knowledge but also experience.
- Tree Surgeon – If you like the outdoors and you don’t have a fear of heights, tree surgery could be the job for you. Being outdoors all day isn’t for everybody but a lot of people do like it. Tree surgery has a lot of services involved, from tree felling to hedge trimming, there is so much to learn but once you have the skill, you have it for life.
- Administrator – A lot of people prefer to work inside, especially in the winter. Working for others can be a nice way to learn more about what they do as well as your job role. To become an administrator, you must undergo certain exams and get the relevant qualifications.
Whatever you decide to do, make sure it is the right job for you. If you find out it’s not, then it isn’t the end of the world. Your education is the most important thing and once you have the relevant qualifications, you can make it.
